Art with a twist“Engaging young people through art unlocks creativity”    

Do you want to improve your art skills? Well this is the class for you. We will be drawing, painting, and sculpting. Art is good brain food!!!  Helps children develop cognitive and thinking skills, emotions, sensory skills, fine motor skills, cooperation, follow directions, vocabulary.

Kids D.I.Y – Make it and Take it

D.I.Y. stands for do it yourself! In this class students will learn to use basis materials and create something new by turning them into a project to take home. Some projects to look forward to may include slime, fidget spinners, ringer game, dream catchers, magnetic fishing pole games, shrinky dinks, simple pottery, marble maze game, foosball game, funny face flip book, animal marionettes, and memory boards. Come join in and expand your creativity and ingenuity to create fun!

Lego Learning

Students will be actively engaged in creative activities with “millions” of pieces to construct, create and expand knowledge in an exploratory hands-on cooperative environment. Students will learn to follow instructions, use eye-hand coordination, and problem solve to enhance and enrich student creativity skills to advance into Robotic Legos.

Brain Games

Come exercise your brain and have fun while doing so! Learn to question, think critically, and challenge your opponents while playing hands on games like Connect 4, Battle Ship, Mancala and more!

BALLET FOLKLORICO

Love to dance?  Come join us dance Ballet Folklorico and be immersed with the famous Mexican Dances from different states in Mexico and its rich culture!

Mega Math Minds- MMM’s

Students will learn about math, shapes, dimensions, volume and geometry through real-life examples by completing and being actively engaged in hands-on cool activities and games to build their own math skills

Do you like to solve problems? Do you recognize patterns that no one else sees? PuzzleMania will allow you to think critically, identify patterns, think outside the box, and find hidden treasures. Come join the fun!

Debate

Do you have a voice, do you have opinions, do you like for others to listen to you; then come be a Debater!!!!

Debate is a formal contest of arguing with respect between two teams or individuals. More largely, and more importantly, debate is an essential tool for developing and maintaining democracy (fairness) and open societies (within the citizens).

All you need is an opinion and a voice to debate an interesting topic; such as:

  • Wearing a helmet when riding a bike should be mandatory.
  • The President of the United States is doing a good job.
  • The Pledge of Allegiance should be recited in school each day.
  • Beauty is only skin deep.
  • Kids should be able to have TVs in their bedrooms.
  • Or a topic of your own that we all can agree on.

Loving Literacy

Come celebrate the power of books to lift and expand your mind and imagination that will provide reading experiences beyond levels and limits by exposing students to the wonderful world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

PATRIOT Thunder

This is a hands-on percussion group that teaches rhythm patterns and playing skills. As an ensemble, you learn to play the instruments, sing along and provide movement connecting you with other cultures around the world. World Music Drumming teaches listening skills and teamwork, while you get your groove on with different percussion instruments. This group performs in November and December.

Meets in the Jefferson Gym  Mrs. Heister  

Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:45

 

Cooking with Kidz!!

This class will not only be fun, but it is guaranteed to be yummy! Young chefs will learn about healthy nutrition and apply it to make healthy snacks that do not require an oven or stove.

Reporters, photographers, creative writers and artists wanted!

Students will learn how to create a newspaper from designing a layout to interviewing important people in our school and community and writing about current events. Exploring and using various types of media and technology, students will publish a monthly newspaper that will keep the Jefferson community up to date on current events. Don’t miss out on the fun!

Fitness Friday/ Mixxed Fit

Students are engaged in people-inspired dance fitness program that is a mix of explosive dancing and boot camp toning. Everything about this dance fitness program can be described as explosive – all of the movements are always big, exaggerated, full-out, and our very best. Students will also be engaged in other physical skill activities such as structured sports, and learning proper workout techniques.
